SCRAPPERS RACING, LLC.- Nitro Top Fuel Dragster

2010-2011

During these year Mono tenaciously joined the Scrappers Racing Top Fuel Team.  Between working on hot rods Mono was crewing for the team on weekend as a Parts Specialist and Tire Wiper.  After a few races and test session, Mono was promoted to Clutch Specialist. Clutch is without a doubt the most tedious position as a crew member. Mono was up for the challenge and with his attention to detail he excelled in his new position.

2012

Once Mono smelled the sweet nitro and felt all 11,000 horsepower go through him during a run, he was hooked.  Mono decided to take his new passion and dive head first as Team Manager/Clutch Specialist with Scrappers Racing.  2012 was full of changes not only for Mono, but as well as the Scrappers Team.  After revamping the operation Driver/Owner, Mike Salinas, and Mono decided to enlist the help of John "Stew" Stewart, Top Fuel Crew Chief.  Stew's first decision as crew chief was to bring brother Bobby and Dom Lagana along for the ride.  Countless hours were spent in the California shop to prepare the new team for the teams home race, the Sonoma Nationals.  During this time Mono fortified his position on the team by soaking in all the knowledge Stew and the Lagana brothers had to offer.  Let's not forget his daughter, Alyssa, 14 at the time was by his side for every early morning and late night, with the exception of school hours.  Finally, perseverance pays off and the Scrappers Team Qualified for their first race!

2013

Continuing their diligence  into the 2013 part-time season, Mono and the crew adds a few Jr. Dragster races to their schedule.  A Jr. Dragster is a 1/2 scale Top Fuel Dragster design to attract young drivers.  Alyssa was lucky enough to get the opportunity to drive with the Salinas family.  Balancing 4 cars proved to be a challenge for the part-time team, but with careful planning and hard work Mono was able to manage it all.  Stew and the Lagana brothers continued to enlighten Mono and Alyssa not only when it came to Top Fuel racing as well as Jr. Dragster racing!  The family-oriented team began to feel like a real family with weekdays spent together at the shop and weekends together at the race track.  Within this year the top fuel team earned its first round win against long time drive, Morgan Lucas, a huge milestone for the team.  In addition, Alyssa, was able to qualify #1 and make a semi-final appearance during her debut year.  It was a proud year for the Jimenez family, proving hard-work and dedication is worth the end result.

2017

Throughout the 2017 season, Mono and Alyssa, took on the challenge of going part-time with Scrappers Racing. Mono as Team Manager and Clutch Specialist and Alyssa as the new Manager's Assistant and Clutch Assistance they prepared the team for a schedule of 10-12 races.  As a test season to prepare for a full-time 2018 schedule their goals was to figure out the logistics and kinks of building a new team.  Holding a lot of promise the team played spoiler to the full-time teams.
